A Buffalo man is heading to prison for running a sex trafficking operation out of an Amherst motel.

A state supreme court justice sentenced Derek Harris, 23, to 11 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.

According to prosecutors, Harris used various internet sites to offer sex acts from girls as young as 14 years-old out of a room at the Boulevard Inn Motel on Niagara Falls Boulevard. He would negotiate the price, then collect the money for himself once the sex acts were completed.

Harris is the first person in Erie County to be convicted on a state charge of sex trafficking.
