A Buffalo man is off to prison after police found fake money in his car.

On December 5, District Attorney John Flynn says Damaricus Worthy, 21, was speeding on the Kensington Expressway. When New York State Police pulled him over, they say Worthy sped away.

Buffalo Police assisted in a short high speed chase, ending when Worthy's car hit a tree. Worthy then continued to run away, but was quickly caught by a Buffalo Police officer.

Troopers and officers found $4500 in counterfeit money while examining the crash vehicle, according to the DA.

Worthy told officials he intended to buy marijuana with the fake money.

Worthy was sentenced to one to three years in prison on counts of attempted criminal possession of a forged instrument and unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
