Fredonia Police say a man was hit by a semi-truck as the driver was pulling out of Basil Chevrolet Thursday morning.

According to police, the driver, Anthony Mattera, had just finished making a delivery and was trying to make a left turn out onto East Main Street (Route 20) heading east.

When the accident happened, officers say the pedestrian, Bobby Brown, tried to walk east around the front of the truck as the driver was waiting for traffic to clear to make his left hand turn.

Brown was treated at the scene by Fredonia Fire Department and then taken to the helicopter pad at Alstar Ambulance in Dunkirk where he was flown by Starlight to Hamot Medical Center for treatment.

State police and the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office closed off East Main Street at Route 60 and Newton Street to allow the Chautauqua County Traffic Reconstruction Team to process the scene. The state police commercial motor vehicle inspection team was called to inspect the semi.
