Person of the Week

By Heather DuBose

11-year-old John Thomas Robertson, of Cuba, NY is making national headlines with his exceptional ability to bring joy to others. J.T. is a healthy boy, but he spends a lot of time at Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo - volunteering his time to hang out with chronically ill children.
"I'm volunteering and helping out with some of the kids," says J.T.
His mother says, "It's something he truly likes to do. He begs for me to bring him up to Women & Children's once a month so he can be with Stone's Buddies".
But that's not all. J.T. has also managed to raise thousands of dollars, which he uses to help share his fascination with trains with his friends at the hospital.
"What I do is collect pop cans to take kids on a local railroad- the Arcade Attica Railroad," says J.T.
Over the past three years, J.T. has collected enough cans to take more than 400 chronically ill children for train rides.
"I guess it was just to show kids you can do a lot with a little. I come from Cuba, a very small town and we don't have a lot," J.T. says.
J.T.'s heart-warming story is soon to be the focus of a documentary by the Associated Television International. The film group has been following the young boy around, capturing his volunteer work. It's all set to be featured him in a segment called, "Everyday Heroes".
