BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The YWCA of Western New York is looking to the public to help rebuild a domestic violence safe house destroyed by fire.
The home served as a safe-haven for families and children escaping domestic violence and dangerous situations who have no place to go.
With shelters at full occupancy and a waiting list for domestic violence victims, the YWCA is looking for help from the community to rebuild.
"Anybody who can come forward to help either free of charge or at a reduced price. If there are training programs out there through building trades unions or school programs where you want to teach people how to put in drywall, lay down flooring, we would love to be a part of something like that," said Deborah Lynn Willimas, CEO of the WNY chapter of the YWCA.
