Three Tornadoes Touch Down in Southern Tier

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that three separate tornadoes touched down in the Southern Tier over the weekend.

An EF-2 Tornado landed near the Town of Chautauqua and Mayville just before 5 p.m. Saturday night. The twister had wind speeds of up to 125 mph as it tore though the Southern Tier, leaving damage in its wake.

Around 5:20 p.m., a second EF-2 tornado hit the Town of Randolph, knocking down trees and damaging structures as it moved through. A State of Emergency was declared for the Town and Village of Randolph, as well as for the Village of East Randolph as a result. The Red Cross has set-up a shelter at Randolph High School for those in need.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, a third tornado, an EF-1, touched down in the Town of Carrollton in Cattaraugus County. The twister moved through into the Village of Allegany, leaving behind damaged trees and buildings.

There are no reports of any injuries as this time as clean-up efforts continue in the affected areas.
