Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - The warm weather may have threatened other winter traditions, but the Flurrious Festival in Delaware Park went off without a hitch for the third year in a row.

Thousands made their way to Delaware Park for some family fun on Saturday.

Rosario Mantione said he "built a snowman and we made a picture" with his son.

Tevon Campbell brought his family to the festival from Lockport. He says "It's definitely a celebration of finding creative ways to stay active in the snow, making it a family filled atmosphere and having fun! I'm happy about it."

The activities were a big hit for kids -- perhaps one of the favorites was a snowman contest.

More than a thousand teens and adults signed up just for athletic activities, which included a marathon, hockey and kickball.

Kickball player Margaret Manz says "It's been a lot of fun running to different fields playing with different teams, it's been a good time."

Hundreds came in from all over New York, the US and Canada for Quidditch, a game from Harry Potter.

In the end, the cold and snow is one of the beauties of Western New York, "Just being outside in the cold, it's been great! I love it -- this is Buffalo and it's fun!"
