LOCKPORT, NY. (WKBW) 19-year old Tyler Best was sentenced in Niagara County Court for his connection to the death of 5-year old Isabella Tennant in August 2012.
The little girl's body was found in a garbage can located in a downtown Niagara Falls alleyway.
Prosecutors say the little girl was killed by 17-year old John Freeman who then woke up Tyler Best and asked him to help move her dead body.
During the sentencing, it was revealed that John Freeman wanted to throw the body in the Niagara River Gorge, but Tyler Best convinced his friend that an alleyway behind Third Street in Niagara Falls was a better location.
The morning after the August 27th murder, Tyler Best went to police and took them to the body.
Tyler Best pleaded guilty to charges of "Hindering Prosecution" and "Tampering with Evidence."
Niagara County Court Judge Matthew Murphy granted Best youthful offender status, as he was 18-years old when the crimes occurred, and sentenced him 1 1/3 to 4 years for evidence tampering and 1 to 3 years for hindering prosecution.
Both sentences will be served concurrently in a State facility with some credit being given for time served.
