AMHERST, NY (WKBW/Release) - Richard and Connie McManamin residence on 9 Evanshire Lane in the town of Amherst reported flames coming out of the wall behind their fireplace.
Chief Paul Griebner reported visible flames from the front of the structure.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the majority of the fire was contained to the room of origin, but there is smoke damage throughout the house.
One firefighter fell down the basement stairs with possible wrist and rib injuries, and was taken to Millard Fillmore Hospital for evaluation.
