Strong Women Unite
Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - "You have breast cancer." Those were the four words that changed Susan Moreale's life forever. "I had the mammogram and it said everything was normal. I had a sonogram and that's what picked up the tumor. I had radiation and Chemo. I had a mastectomy," Morreale said. Through the illness and treatment, she worked to keep her business alive. Now, she uses her shop on Elmwood Avenue, recently renamed "Her Story Boutique", to inspired other women. "Sometimes as a women you have so many hats. You really have to look at what is important and what you really need to focus on," Moreale said. Ciara is Morreal's 23-year-old daughter. She said Ciara is the voice of health and well being for the younger generation. Together, they created a jewelry line, inspired by other cancer survivors and other strong women in the community. "There are so many things that you have on journey of life and we really need to be there for each other. We started a line of jewelry. We found this great saying "Strong women may we know them, may we raise, them may we be them," Moreale said. The mom daughter duo said they live by that saying. "I feel that is the perfect description of my life and what my mother has instilled in me," Morreale Sue is also an advocate for cancer survivors and healthy living in the community. She organized this calendar, highlighting other survivors and their stories. "The point behind it is that your are living afterwards a strong healthy and happy life," Morreale Sue said there would always be ups and downs but she urges women to support each other in business, in health and in life. "It's really important to really enjoy every moment of every day. You don't know what's around the corner. It's about living your life as healthy and proactively as you can," Morreale said.
