Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW release) -- Get ready to kick up your heels for a good cause.

The 4th annual .5K Stiletto Run, hosted by Elmwood shoe store, ShoeFly and Celebrate Buffalo Inc,. will take place on Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m.

The Stiletto Run welcomes all fun shoe wearers, whether you are a walker or a runner. In order to be eligible for placing prizes, runners must be registered and complete the race in a shoe with a minimum heel height of three inches. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded to the first three runners to cross the finish line.

A portion of the event proceeds will benefit The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. Pre-registration for the event is $25, or $30 on the day of the event.

In 2010, the run raised over $6,000 to benefit The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. According to The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance’s website, “Ovarian cancer accounts for approximately 3 percent of cancers in women. While the ninth most common cancer among women, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related death among women, and is the deadliest of gynecologic cancers.”

Sue Marfino, owner of ShoeFly/Clutch, founded The Stiletto Run in 2008, and says: “The Stiletto Run is not only visually distinctive from other races and a blast to participate in, it’s also about touching lives. Local families and individuals run in honor of those affected by ovarian cancer and eagerly dress up in colorful, unique costumes to honor their loved ones.”
