BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW Release) – The New York State Department of Health Public Health and Health Planning Council has approved the certificate of need to build the new John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.
Plans are for the 12-floor, free-standing, state-of-the-art facility to continue as the only hospital to provide infants, children and adolescents immediate access on site to pediatric surgery and a full panel of pediatric medical subspecialists, including the region's largest and safest neonatal intensive care unit, the Regional Pediatric Trauma Center and pediatric neurosurgery.
Additionally, the Center for Women's Health will not only provide state-of-the-art labor & delivery and high-risk perinatal inpatient care in the regional perinatal center; but the Center will horizontally connect all these services, including c-section operating rooms on the same floor connected via bridge directly to the Buffalo General Medical Center adult medical and surgical services. This connection will further strengthen the high quality of services provided to women in Western New York with focus on women’s health.
The vision for the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital is to be recognized as the innovator, the highest quality, highest value provider and partner, and the regional referral center for women and children’s health care for Kaleida Health, in Western New York and beyond.
