Town of Darien, NY (RELEASE) - The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that occurred at 9:05 p.m. on June 30th, 2012. The accident happened in the area of 1516 Sumner Road in the Town of Darien. The investigation revealed that a 20-year-old male, Casey Parnell of Mumford, NY was standing on the south shoulder of Sumner Road. A 2009 Kia Minivan operated by Amanda Cline, 39, of Homer, NY was eastbound approaching Parnell when he suddenly entered the roadway and was struck by the minivan. Parnell was transported from the scene by Mercy Flight to the Erie County Medical Center. At approximately 5:23 Sunday morning he succumbed to his injuries. There no injuries to the occupants of the minivan. The investigation is continuing by the Genesee County Sheriff's Offfice. No charges are anticipated. Also assisting at the scene were the New York State Police, Darien Volunteer Fire Department and Mercy Ambulance.
