BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -Erie County voters have chosen former television reporter Stefan Mychajliw to become the county's next comptroller. Mychajliw was able to beat current Erie County Comptroller David Shenk by taking 52% of the votes. Shenk, a Democrat, earned 48% percent. At Democratic Headquarters Tuesday night, Shenk did not concede and remained hopeful the 20,000 uncounted absentee and military ballots would lead him to victory. According to the Erie County Board of Elections Commissioners, with Mychajliw obtaining more than a 10,000 vote lead, Shenk would need a large percentage of all those absentee ballots to become the victor. Officials with The Board of Elections say they will have the next 13 days to collect and count all the absentee ballots.
