Medina Firefighters Rescue Four Ducklings From Storm Sewer (With Photos)

June 20, 2012 Updated Jun 20, 2012 at 11:26 AM EDT

(WKBW release) Medina firefighters responded for a report of four ducklings trapped in a storm sewer in front of 902 South Main Street shortly after 9:30 Tuesday evening.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed four ducklings trapped.  Crews worked to remove the storm sewer grate from the street and then sent a firefighter down to rescue the ducklings.  After a few minutes, all four ducklings had been safely removed from the storm sewer, alive and well.

Because the mother duck was not in the area, the ducklings were placed in a box and taken to the firehouse.  Animal rehabilitator Wendi Pencille, of Medina, was then contacted and responded to assist.
