LOCKPORT, N.Y. ( by: Tim Schmitt - belowthefalls.com) The Lockport Concert Series unveiled a new look, with a new sponsor, but a recurring message: Prices keep climbing.
Dave Taylor books the acts for the series, which has changed alliances from Molson to Labatts, and he says the competition continues to rev higher between Lockport, Artpark, and the Buffalo Rocks the Harbor series.
“A lot of the acts that are booked now, when we were in North Tonawanda six years ago, I’m paying double what I paid there,” Taylor said. “And it’s not because they think their market worth is more. It’s that other people have offered that and paid it in one of the other series. Now they have a watermark. And the watermark keeps getting higher and higher. For everybody.”
Taylor and concert promoter Kathy Paradowski unveiled the Labatt Series on Monday in front of Lockport’s Municipal Building and it’s as follows:
June 29: Gov't Mule, (with the Sheepdogs)
July 6: Eddie Money
July 13: Ed Kowlaczak from the band Live
July 20: Big Wreck
July 27: Theory of a Deadman
Aug. 3: 54-40
Aug. 10: George Thorogood & the Destroyers
Aug. 17: Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Aug. 24: Tea Party
