As a “thank you” to fans for their patience and loyalty during the NHL lockout, the Buffalo Sabres announced the team will be holding a ‘Fan Appreciation Sale’ from the beginning of training camp to the team’s first home game, offering fans a 50% discount on all merchandise in the Sabres Store at First Niagara Center. But is it enough?
Here’s what some other teams are doing:
· The Tampa Bay Lightning is offering a season ticket for only $200.
· The Ottawa Senators home opening game will be free for kids 14-and-under with the purchase of an adult ticket, plus free parking.
· The L.A. Kings are donating $1 million to four charities in the area.
· The Pittsburgh Penguins are offering 50% off all merchandise at the team’s first four home games and vouchers for three free concession items for every fan in attendance of those games.
In addition, the Pens are holding a week-long program of contests for fans to win prizes leading up to home opener, including two season tickets, three autographed jerseys, $700 of merchandise, and a road trip to see the Penguins play the New York Rangers in New York City (with airfare, accommodations, and tickets all included)
