BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW / Buffalo Broadcasters ) The weather was perfect for a run on Buffalo's waterfront Wednesday evening as the Buffalo Broadcasters hosted their 4th annual Celebrity 5K Run.
The race was presented by Univera Healthcare, the Law Firm of O'Brien Boyd, and Folonari Wine. Media sponsors included WKBW Channel 7 and other broadcast outlets.
Sponsor Russell Salvatore from Russell's Steaks, Chops, and More joined friend Ron DiGiore from Picasso's Pizza to start the race. The opening shot was fired at 7p.m. from behind the First Niagara Center as host Ron Rice cheered the runners on for their waterfront experience.
This run is quickly becoming a premier event on the waterfront. Last year over 300 runners participated and raised money for the Western New York Homeless Veterans and the Buffalo Broadcasters Association.
For 2012, hundreds ran around Buffalo's waterfront, including the Erie Basin Marina, and ending at CanalSide.
Channel 7's Eyewitness News NFTA Traffic and Transit Reporter Dave Cash hosted the post race event, handing out trophies and acknowledging the best runners of the bunch.
WKBW hosted a team with Eyewitness News Executive Producer Lisa Polizzi, Matt Polster, and John Di Sciullo.
