BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Sports equipment, computers and white boards: items once used by hundreds of girls spanning generations were up for sale.
Hundreds lined up outside of Holy Angels Academy on Saturday to take part in the auction. The school and all of the items inside were up for bid.
Perhaps the biggest spender of the day, local developer and school board member, Carl Paladino, who bought the building for $2.9 million. He has not disclosed his plans for the building yet.
It was a somber day for many of the school's alumni.
"It's sad to see all of the 150 years of tradition being sold in a matter of a day," said alumna Christine Domach. "It's awful."
1,300 items were up for bid during the Holy Angels Academy Auction.
Representatives from the school explained all the money made will go towards paying off debts and paying back the Grey Nuns.
