ALBANY, NY (WKBW/NYPOST) - Governor Paterson says he is 'frustrated' after meeting with ten tribal leaders Thursday, according to the New York Post.
Paterson spoke to a New York City radio station Thursday, saying he plans to push ahead with a plan to tax cigarettes sold to non-natives on Indian reservations, even after the recent freeze ordered by a State Supreme Court judge.
"I find it frustrating," Paterson said. "Some of the groups, not all, but some of them, only came to the table to negotiate at the last minute because they didn't think that we would actually implement this."
Paterson said that the state will abide by the courts decision, adding, "This is just a delay to an inevitable decision. We still believe our legal case is strong."
