Penfield, N.Y. (WKBW) - In the hours following the deadly shootings at a movie theater in Aurora Colorado, Alex Sullivan's family feared the worst. They then found out he was killed in the tragedy.
Sullivan, 27, is from Penfield, outside Rochester, where his family is now mourning the devastating loss. They said he was at the theater with his friends for his birthday. Family also said he was looking forward to celebrating his one-year wedding anniversary.
Sullivan was a friend to everyone, according to those who knew him. Now, his family hopes they can someday heal and maybe forgive.
"He made everyone happy, everybody made him happy. He never had a cross or bad word for anybody, even if they offended him, he wouldn't acknowledge it. This issue tests your faith," Victim's Uncle Bob Schwab said.
Meanwhile, back in Buffalo, police have set up extra patrols at movie theaters show "Dark Knight Rises" to give people peace-of-mind. Many moviegoers said although they are touched by the tragedy, they don't want to let a random act of violence control their lives.
As for Sullivan's family, they said they are trying to deal with loss and hoping to find out more about why this happened.
