Man in Custody After Shooting a Fairport Woman

A Fairport woman is recovering after being shot at a Rochester restaurant early Sunday morning, police say.

The shooting occurred at Gitsis Restaurant at 600 Monroe Avenue in Rochester around 3:15 a.m. when 31-year-old Jackie Walker was shot by 30-year-old James Harvey of Virginia Beach, Va.

The shooting occurred after restaurant security notified Rochester Police that Harvey had a gun inside the restaurant. Upon arrival, officers approached Harvey and began to speak with him.

During the course of questioning, a shot was fired by Harvey, striking Walker in the lower half of her body.

Harvey was taken into custody and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Walker remains in stable condition at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police are continuing investigations.
