ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. (WKBW) - Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two area drivers for Driving While Intoxicated on Saturday night in separate incidents by Sheriff’s Road Patrols.
While investigating a report of reckless operation on Route 16 in the Town of Wales, Deputy Rich O’Neil found the car in question being driven by 34-year-old Jillian White of Tonawanda. After her vehicle was stopped she was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests, which she failed, and was taken to the Sheriff’s substation on Bullis Road in Elma for processing. Breath test administered by Deputy Jason Bouton revealed her Blood Alcohol Content to be .16%. That is twice the legal limit. After arrest processing she was released on appearance tickets to a sober third party.
Early Sunday morning Deputy Gene Nati responded to a report of a man fighting with three women outside The Filling Station bar in Akron. He then fled the area on a motorcycle. Deputy Nati stopped the subject, 42-year-old Scott Clark of Akron a short distance away. He was subsequently charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated. The DWI was a felony because Clark has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years. He refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his Blood Alcohol Content. Due to this refusal the Department of Motor Vehicles will revoke his license. He was released on tickets to appear in Akron Village Justice Court at a later date.
These two arrests bring this year’s total number of arrests for Driving While Intoxicated by deputies to 156.
