Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) - It's been a rough end to the summer for the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy-- especially at Delaware Park.
"We have had to replace equipment, clean-up graffiti, and make major repairs, " says Director of Operations Kevin Hanna.
The park has been targeted several times over the past few weeks.
Vandals have driven golf carts into fences, spray painted buildings, and even cut out a large portion of the greens on the golf course.
"We also had a break in at one of our storage facilities and they took a number of items of equipment," Hanna said.
The crimes are hitting this park's budget hard. Maintenance is partly paid for with city funds-- but mostly through private and generous donations.
" What this does is requires us to ask the public for more help," says Hanna.
Olmsted officials are pleading with the public to keep their eyes open for any suspicious activity and call police when they see it.
"We really need their help and support," Hanna said.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Police plan to step up patrols to try and combat the problem.
Anyone with information on the recent crimes-- is asked to contact the Buffalo Police Confidential Tipline at (716) 847-2255.
