TONAWANDA, NY (WKBW/Release) - Indaleccio Rodriguez-Escalera, a 22-year-old male from Buffalo, and his 22-year-old girlfriend Melissa Rosario, also of Buffalo, were arrested yesterday morning at the Economy Inn located at 40 Grand Island Boulevard.
A search warrant was executed by SIU Detectives along with members of the TTPD SWAT Team.
When the SWAT Team entered the room, Rodriguez-Escalera jumped out of bed and threw a handful of heroin around the room in an attempt to destroy evidence. The heroin showered three small children in the room that are between the ages of 3 years and 3 months.
Due to the exposure to the narcotic, the children were all sent to Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
Charges for both suspects will include possession of controlled substance, possession with intent to sell, endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment.
They were arraigned in Town Court last night. Rodriguez-Escalera was held on $100,000 bail and sent to the Holding Center, while Rosario was released to her parents.
Both are due back in court tomorrow at 4 P.M. for Felony Hearings.
