Celebration of Chanukah Begins

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Chanukah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights begins Wednesday, December 1.

In celebration, a number of events are taking place throughout the area.

The Jewish Discovery Center will be celebrating its 18th Annual Family Chanukah Party.

The Chanukah family celebration will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Jewish Discovery Center, 757 Hopkins Road in Williamsville. The program will also include: a full Chanukah dinner, Chanukah music, Menorah lighting, games, crafts, delicious Chanukah treats and great fun for the whole family.

On Sunday, December 5th, organizers will hold a Chanukah Super Bowl.

The Chanukah Super Bowl will be held on Sunday, December 5th, 3:00 -5:00pm at the Transit lanes, 7850 Transit Road in Williamsville.

People of all ages will enjoy singing traditional Chanukah songs like “Rock of Ages” and “The Dreidel Song,” while enjoying a great game of bowling, eating tasty potato latkes, lighting a grand Bowling pin Menorah plus chocolate gelt, games and prizes for the children.

The event is sponsored the Jewish Discovery Center, Chai Hebrew School and Kadimah Day School.
