BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The man spotted jumping into the Buffalo River in the city's new Canalside waterfront project Sunday night has been found alive, according to police.

the 45-year-old man from Lancaster was apparently drunk and seen by passers-by jumping into the waterway.

That prompted a police search by BPD's Underwater Recovery Team, who spent the overnight searching for the man's body near the USS Little Rock.

Late Monday afternoon, police said they tracked down the individual, who apparently got out of the water safely without alerting anyone who watched him jump in.

"Police are looking at the possibility that the individual may've swam to safety," said department spokesman Michael DeGeorge.

It is still unclear if the man will be brought up on any charges.
