SPRINGVILLE, N.Y (WKBW) Over a million dollars in New York State grant money is on its way to Springville to help fund a major effort to redevelop the Main Street area.

A matching grant of $250,000 will help the Village of 4300 people construct a new business center 'streetscape.'

It will also fund the installation of new facades and second-floor living areas in buildings along East and West Main Street.

Several grants totaling $800,000 are going to the Springville Center for the Arts.

The money will pay for major repairs to an old church that is the current home for the Center's 100-seat theater and gallery.

It will also allow the Arts Center to go ahead with a major expansion project that will see the renovation of an historic building located at 5 East Main Street.

"It is going to be a somewhat traditional mixed use but with a big arts twist. There will be a coffee shop space, artist residencies, workshop space, and performance space. It is a very exciting expansion project for us," said Seth Wochensky the Executive Director of the Springville Center for the Arts.

Construction is expected to begin in Spring.
