BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The SPCA seized 73 horses and a number of dogs and cats when they were called to the East Aurora farm of Beth Hoskins back in March.
The SPCA says the animals were found malnourished, dehydrated and living in squalor.
Hoskins is facing more than one-hundred charges of animal cruelty, however 40 of the seized horses have been returned under supervision of the SPCA.
SPCA officials say that caring for those horses has cost upwards of a few hundred thousand dollars, and want Hoskins to foot the bill.
In court Thursday, the attorney for Hoskins is asking for the remaining 33 horses to be returned pending the criminal case against the farm owner.
No date has been set for the criminal case, which is scheduled to take place in the Town of Aurora.
