Standoff Ends Peacefully After Nearly Six Hours

ARCADE, NY ( WKBW ) Arcade Police tell Eyewitness News they now have a man in custody who held police at bay for several hours on Saturday.

Police evacuated part of a neighborhood in the Village of Arcade in Wyoming county during the standoff that started shorted after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Sources tell Eyewitness News that the man inside the Prospect Street home has several firearms. Sources also tell Eyewitness News that the man has a wife and children but they were not believed to be in the home during the standoff.

Police tell us the man surrendered around 9:00 p.m. It is not clear what sparked the standoff. Neighbors say this is not the first time police have been called to the house this week.
