BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) 29-year old Lindsey Harmon was viciously attacked outside the popular lesbian night club Roxy's on New Year's Eve.

Police say Harmon was hit with a barrage of anti gay slurs before she was stabbed in the eye. More than three months later, she is still recovering from her injuries.

On Saturday night a fundraiser was held at Adonia's Bar on Allen Street to help Harmon with her medical bills.

"The reason I'm doing the benefit is to raise money for Lindsey Harmon after the attack on New Year's Eve... and the second reason is because we need to raise awareness not only in our community but every community to show support for when someone needs our help," said event organizer Steven Schroeder.

Schroeder got dozens of local businesses to donate gifts for the fundraiser including gift baskets, wine, Buffalo Sabres tickets, and a 32 inch plasma screen TV donated by the Adonia's owner Yvonne White.

"I think is just a fantastic event that Steven put together and like he mentioned it will raise awareness that this community in Buffalo will stick together," said White.

Harmon's father attended the event while his daughter remains at home recovering.

Schroeder says she's still dealing with complications from the attack but she is getting better.

"She still has a few issues with her eyes, mentally she where anybody else would be if it happened to them."
