Cuts to public school aid are not sitting too well with many local parents and they're banning together to call on the governor and lawmakers to reconsider the cuts. A group called the District Parent Coordinating Council says the proposed cuts would un-do the progress Buffalo public schools have made over the last five years and would likely affect graduation rates that have improved significantly during that time span.

"We're calling on the governor to support the turnaround that's going on in Buffalo," says Sam Radford of the District Parent Coordinating Council, "We're calling on the state education commissioner to support the turnaround that's going on in Buffalo. We're looking for the State to acknowledge that we're going in the right direction and to help us as opposed to doing things that are going to hurt us."

The Council wants parents to contact state lawmakers to stress the importance of the funding.
