Hockey Sticks Recalled

Summary: BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Bauer Hockey has issued a stop sale notice to retailers in North America asking them to remove eleven junior and youth hockey stick models from their shelves because of potentially dangerous levels of lead in the paint. "They looked like normal sticks like they had perfect color... I didn't realize that it was lead paint and that's like chemical," one junior hockey player said.

Many local Buffalo stores don't have these recalled sticks in stock such as Great Skate Company. An employee there says the recalled sticks are older models.

Consumers who already own a recalled stick can get a replacement from the Bauer Company, just call 1-888-734-0443.

A message is posted on the company's website which shows the list of recalled models. There were originally 13 different models recalled but now that number is down to 11 after additional testing. "Bauer had initially included the Nike Bauer Vapor XXX Lite "Woody" Junior Stick and the Nike Quest Apollo Junior Blade among the products subject to the stop sale notice on a precautionary basis while awaiting tests results for these two products," Bauer's website reads. "Bauer has since received test results that show both products satisfy the applicable consumer
product safety standards in the U.S. and Canada."
