It's a school that's loved by many, but St. Paul's Elementary School in Kenmore will close its doors for good at the end of the school year. Dwindling enrollment over the years and increasing costs have fueled the decision.

"I was utterly devastated," said parent Ann Kiblin. "It's a wonderful school and wonderful place to go."

Currently, only 105 children attend the school and only 69 registered for the upcoming school year. The pastor of the church says the parish can not afford to support a school any longer.

"We have done a great deal of research and have consulted with diocesan education officials to address the enrollment and financial challenges facing the school," Father McGinnis said in a statement, "But we have been unable to stem the tide of declining enrollment. As a parish, we can no longer afford to sustain the school."

The news is especially devastating to Amie O'Day, who has taught at the school for more than 10-years.

"It broke my heart and I can't shed another tear," said O'Day. "Now I hope for the best, and hope our students and faculty are all taken care of in the future."
