BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Armed with technology, and a purpose, Mark Klodzinski set off to walk 4,500 miles, thinking about his two brothers in the military on the way.
"What I am doing with this walk is putting myself in the uncomfortable position of being away from home, and also serving, and at the same time am doing something great like they have," said Mark.
He got the idea back in November, after picking up the book 'Walk Across America', and it then picked up steam. After doing some research, he decided to raise pledges and do the walk for A Warrior's Wish Foundation, out of Machias.
"We have been granting life long dreams or particular special wish for veterans of the armed services, armed forces," said Kevin Haynes of A Warrior's Wish.
He has brought his grandfather's old compass along with him to guide him, who has served as well. Mark will rely on technology as he goes, taking a solar panel along with him to power up his notebook and cell phone. Mark will be able to update his Facebook page, a Patriot walk across America, and also has another page, patriotwalkusa.org, where you can donate.
"Actions speak louder than words, so I figure after my first couple of steps, people are going to hear about what I am doing," added Mark.
