The City of Buffalo discussed final test results conducted on mold at the police department's D District Headquarters late Friday, calling the building safe.

"These tests have proved that there has been no adverse health impact to our police department personnel and support staff," said Mayor Byron Brown.

The city released the findings of the study conducted by Leader Professional Service, Inc., but would not release the actual report that was submitted by the company.

Brown said the Buffalo police union would be allowed to conduct its own independent testing before cleanup commenced.

Police officers have already been working off-site since the building was shut down on February 12.

Brown announced the city will pay $4,500 in rent per month to temporarily lease All Saints Roman Catholic Church Society of Buffalo on Chadduck Street in Riverside as D District's interim home.

The cost of testing and cleanup is expected to cost the city $300,000, said Commissioner of Public Works Steve Stepniak.
