BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Jose Figueroa was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison Friday, after confessing in a decade old murder case.

Figueroa was recruited from Puerto Rico to murder Alex Martinez back in 1998, over what the prosecutor describes as street violence and drugs.

Martinez was murdered execution style in front of his son and girlfriend.

Figueroa says he has become a man of God during the past 12 years, and now assists a pastor at a Buffalo church.

Figueroa is eligible for parole after 18 years.
