SHERKSTON SHORES, ONTARIO CANADA ( WKBW ) The Erie County Sheriff's helicopter landed on Lake Erie ice on the Sherkston Shoreline in Ontario, Canada to rescue a man and his dog.
Captain Kevin Caffery telling Eyewitness News in an exclusive phone interview you heard first on Channel 7, that the man and his dog were stuck on the ice after it broke apart late Wednesday afternoon. The identity of the man is not known as of this posting. The man was apparently looking to retrieve his dog who wandered on the ice.
With spring coming soon, and the temperatures rising, Caffery noted the importance of staying off any ice at this time no matter how thick it might appear to be.
