UB Athlete Suffers Life-Threatening Injury

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) University at Buffalo senior Dan Bishop was about to wrap up his senior year with an appearance at the Mid-American Conference championships at Central Michigan University over the weekend.

Tragedy struck when Bishop suffered a severe spinal cord injury during the competition.

Doctors at Saginaw St. Mary's Hospital fused two of Bishop's vertebrae together and installed screws and plates to support his spine.

University at Buffalo officials said Bishop lost feeling in his arms and legs following the incident, but has since regained some sensation.
