WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKBW) -- Congressman Chris Lee outlined a bill Monday that would seek to end government's wasteful practice of printing multiple copies of legislation.
The 'Stop the Over Printing Act' would end the longstanding practice of delivering five printed copies of legislation to every sponsor.
Some bills have over 90 sponsors, and the recent health care bill contained over 2,000 pages, meaning each member of congress received over 10,000 pages for that bill alone.
Lee's proposal would use an electronic version instead, allowing sponsors to print the legislation if needed.
The cost savings are estimated at $2.2 million this year alone.
