AMHERST, NY (WKBW) -- Amherst Police responded to a 9-1-1 call early Tuesday morning to an American Campus Drive residence for a burglary report.

Police discovered that at least four suspects had broken into the apartment and burglarized property from three separate victims.

Responding officers observed two suspects fleeing the area on foot. One suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase, and the second was taken in to custody after violently fighting with officers and refusing to comply.

The remaining two suspects were located in a vehicle and taken into custody shortly after.

Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects had been the victim of a burglary earlier in the day. He contacted the other suspects who came to Amherst from Syracuse, NY with the intention of gaining retribution for the earlier burglary, of which they believed one of the victims from the apartment were responsible for.

During the course of events, the suspects burglarized three apartments, held victims against their will and forcibly stole property.

The suspects arrested and charged are Christopher Moro, 23 of Syracuse, NY, Tara Bouthillier, 19 of Cicero, NY, Jason Stevens, 19 of Syracuse, NY, and Michael Stevens, 20 of Syracuse, NY.

The suspects are currently awaiting arraignment in Amherst.
