LEROY, NY (WKBW) -- 43-year old Tracy L. Smith of Bergen, NY has been arrested and charged with stealing from a LeRoy, NY Bank of Castile branch.

Smith has been charged with two counts of Grand Larceny in the 3rd and four counts of Forgery in the 2nd, both of which are felonies.

Smith allegedly stole money over a course of time in 2007 and 2008. Police believed she took a total of $20,000 from her cash drawer and then manipulated the accounting system to cover-up the theft.

Smith eventually removed $20,000 in a lump sum from a cash delivery to hide the theft, which led to the investigation.

Another incident allegedly occurred between June of 2008 and December of 2009 where Smith is accused of taking $25,000 by forging checks and withdrawal slips from customers.

Smith was arraigned in LeRoy Town Court and has been released under the supervision of the Genesee Justice program.

The Bank of Castile is asking its customers to review their bank statements and notify the bank immediately if any unusual activity is found.
