Buffalo, NY ( WKBW ) - If you missed "Good Morning WNY," here are your morning headlines.
New this morning, animals rescued in a fire Monday night in West Seneca are recovering at the SPCA in Tonawanda. When firefighters were called to a fire on Willowdale Drive, the owners of the home had escaped but close to 30 animals remain trapped or in need of help.
Gary Parucki, Chief of the Vigilant Fire Company told Eyewitness News, "Knowing that there was no human life in the house, we started bringing out what animals we could find, and the firefighters from the mutual aid companies started or tried to revive a lot of the animals. We did save quite a few."
Eyewitness News will follow this story today for a cause of the fire, and the condition of the animals, which included 12 cats, 4 ferrets, and a dog.
Honoring the lives lost...the survivors, and rescuers associated with the crash of Flight 3407 in Clarence Center last February, held a public forum to discuss planned memorials.
Four sites have been pre-selected for a possible public memorial. The family of Doug Wielinski, the man who was killed when the plane crashed into his home on Long Street, says a smaller remembrance will be built at the crash site.
Greg Wielinski, Greg's brother, telling Eyewitness News, "the site is going to be a very subtle site. It's not going to turn around and be grandiose. We're taking into consideration the people on the street too, because they have to live there."
The process to build the memorials is expected to take several months. So far the committee has raised more than $50,000 dollars. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so through the Bank Of Akron in Clarence.
There has been a significant breakthrough in the Peace Bridge project. Governor David Paterson has announced that five new bridge designs have earned Federal approval.
The Governor unveiled those designs to the public on Monday, for additional comments and for a final determination, on which will be chosen for the project.

Police in the Town Of Tonawanda say a serial burglar is targeting several homes in one neighborhood there. Police say there have been numerous burglaries happening between mid-afternoon to early evening hours in the Brighton Park area. Entry has been made by prying or breaking doors and windows.
Police are asking that you report all suspicious vehicles and persons by calling 911 or 876-5300
