Washington, DC –( release ) U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that both houses of Congress passed the FY2010 Omnibus Appropriations bill, including $400,000 to help rehabilitate a runway at Niagara Falls International Airport. Senator Gillibrand aggressively lobbied members of the Appropriations Committee to include funding for the project in this year’s spending bill.
“This is great news for the Niagara Falls International Airport,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job creation, bring critical updates for the airport and improve safety for our travelers. I will continue working hard to make sure New York gets its fair share from the federal government.”
Niagara Falls International Airport will use the $400,000 federal investment to resurface the main runway to create a smooth operating surface – a critical infrastructure improvement that will ensure safe aircraft movement and help keep flights on time.
The U.S. Senate passed the Omnibus Appropriations bill over the weekend. With final passage, the bill now goes to the President to become law.
