PERRYSBURG, NY (WKBW) -- The nasty weather in the Southern Tier made things difficult for firefighters as they battled a blaze in Perrysburg, NY Friday morning.

Some reports said a nine-year old boy was forced to climb out of a window and down a tree to escape.

Several area fire companies were called to help put-out the fire, as the poor weather conditions made a difficult job even more treacherous.

The house was completely destroyed, and Eyewitness News is told that the Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
