It was the hottest toy going, and Elmo is still everywhere. But Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar, Big Bird and the bunch are getting a new address. For years, Fisher- Price has been the manufacturer, but now, it goes to Hasbro.

"What became apparent to us in negotiations that Sesame Street was interested in programming for their business, and we are obviously not aligned with any broadcast organization like Hasbro is," said Fisher-Price Spokesperson Brenda Andolina.

Fisher-Price says they have picked up Thomas and Friends, which is higher up in licensing in the toy industry. Even as Sesame Street goes, the jobs will not in East Aurora at Fisher-Price. They will assign people who worked on Sesame Street to other lines. The toys are not manufactured in the United States. Fisher-Price will still have Sesame Street until 2011, when Hasbro takes over. Don't worry, you will see plenty of Elmo, Big Bird, and the gang.

"We have great respect for Sesame Street's educational platform, and children around the world. Our job is to bring those characters and mission to life," said Hasbro's Chief Marketing Office John Frascotti.
