Broadway Market Gets Festive

It's the day after Thanksgiving, and things are already turning festive at the Broadway Market. "We have seasonal vendors, unique gifts and food, crafts, and Christmas wreaths. You name it, It's festive inside the Broadway Market," said Ed Dobosiewicz of the Broadway Market. Today and tomorrow, the market will be transformed into a European town square for the 3rd Annual Kristkindle Market Christmas Fair. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m - 5 p.m on Friday and Saturday. The event is mirrored after centuries of old European style holiday markets. Broadway Market Christkindlmarket Continues Today

Traditional European Christmas Market Features Crafters, Ethnic Vendors & Fresh Foods

The Third Annual Christkindlmarket Christmas Fair at the Broadway Public Market continues today, Saturday, November 28th between 8:30a -5:00p. The event features unique crafters, ethnic vendors, fresh food and flower retailers. The Market is located at 999 Broadway in the Polonia Historic District.

The Yuletide event is patterned after centuries old European style holiday markets located all over the continent from the Atlantic to the Baltic. The goal of the Market is to bring together the best food, craft and ethnic vendors as the Market celebrates age old, time-honored traditions. Established in 1888, the Broadway Market originally served the thousands of Eastern European immigrants who populated the city’s Eastside. Although the Market site has undergone-numerous changes over time, three different physical structures in fact, the old-fashioned concept of selling farm fish, exotic and unusual products here has remained unchanged since the Market’s inception. Famed for its eclectic urban atmosphere, the Broadway Market’s fresh food merchant base is comprised of family-owned, family operated butcher shops, poultry stands, fruit/vegetable stands and bakeries.
