Brian Davis has been removed from all Common Council committees and will no longer serve on Buffalo's economic development agency.

The announcement was made Monday by Common Council President David Franczyk.

"It's my opinion that Brian Davis has vacated his office when he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors which violated his oath of office," Franczyk said.

Davis, who represents the Ellicott District, admit ed to funneling campaign contributions into his private bank account for personal use and then lied about it on campaign finance disclosure forms.

Franczyk said he is waiting for a legal ruling from the city Law Department. He sent a letter to David Rodriguez, the city's corporation counsel, asking that the opinion be filed by Nov. 19, which is the filing deadline for the next council meeting on Nov. 24.

Davis will also no longer serve on the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corp., the city's economic development agency.
