Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- Buffalo Police Narcotics Squad detectives executed a search warrant late Monday night at 254 Laird Street in the city's Riverside section, arresting the resident, John Rickard.

Rickard has been charged with felony drug counts along with criminal possession of a stolen handgun. Police also seized a shotgun and rifle from the residence.

More than 4.5 ounces of powdered cocaine, with an estimated street value over $16,000, along with $58,000 in cash were taken from the home.

"The drugs, the cash and weapons are indicative of what our officers are encountering on a regular basis during their covert investigations. This demonstrates the profit potential of unlawful narcotics dealing, as well as the fact that illegal weapons are being used in the drug trade," said Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives.

The investigation was a result of citizen complaints, and BPD officials say they continue to get valuable information from the confidential TIPCALL and other citizen information avenues.

Residents can call the Buffalo Police TIPCALL line at 847-2255.
