Buffalo, NY (WKBW) -- Call it extreme neighborhood makeover. Volunteers are all over Massachusetts and surrounding streets, and today James Strach found out he too was getting some help.

"I was thrilled for the neighborhood and to be included is beyond. I am thrilled," said nearby resident James Starch.

With some help from his friends, Strach has remodeled the inside of his home. Now volunteers help get the outside in order

"These people are all from Buffalo, doing something for Buffalo," said designer Michael Moloney.

And just down the road on Massachusetts, work began on Sonia Herrera's home. She has six kids and her husband is not well.

"That will make a lot of difference. Will be wonderful," said Herrera.

The main attraction is moving on schedule. David Homes is spearheading the project and Americorps helping the volunteer effort. They decided to expand the effort while work continues on Delores Powell's home. The big stars were front and center. Ty Pennington of course in the middle of it all. He has been here since the weekend.

"You have to really love what you do, because the schedule is absolutely insane," said Pennington.

The designers are also working at lightning speed, to get the job done in a weeks time.

"This was the first time we have ever taken a house down piece by piece. It is a little stressful. We are used to knocking it down very quickly, but it is looking really good," said Designer Eduardo Xol.

David Homes is still looking for donations for supplies for the community project. Go to news links and click on their website if you want to help.
